EGL has carried out the investigation, design, consenting and construction monitoring of the tailings storage facilities at the Macraes Gold Mine since 1988. The mine is located in East Otago on the South Island of New Zealand. The work has included dam breach assessments, installation and monitoring of instrumentation to check the ongoing performance of the tailings storage facilities and the preparation of Operation, Maintenance Surveillance Manuals and Emergency Action Plans. EGL also carries out annual inspections and review of monitoring data to meet dam safety guidelines and ongoing compliance requirements.
