Taimate Water Storage Dam is located in Ward, Marlborough and utilised for irrigation vine grapes. The dam has an embankment up to 18m high with a reservoir occupying an area of approximately 4ha. The dam is capable of storing water up to about 260,000m3. The bulk earthwork (ie cut to fill) associated with the dam is about 80,000m3. The dam has a Medium Potential Impact Classification (PIC). EGL carried out the site investigation, design and construction monitoring of Taimate Water Storage Dam in 2017-2019. A design feature of the dam is the location of the dam spillways, which are constructed away from the embankment that enhances the safety of the dam.
